It seems as though it is not a matter of "if" you will take a zero at Kennedy Meadows, but of how many.
I relaxed and ate the day away, playing cards and music with friends, and taking care of such domestic duties as the weekly shower and laundering of clothes. After hiking 150 miles over the past week, I was filthy and content, but as soon as I turned on that hot shower I began to feel delightedly domesticated once again.
We experimented with trying to pack all our food in our now required bear canisters, with mixed results.
And started to consider what other uses we could come up with these heavy and bulky containers.
We came up with oatmeal packet beg bag toss, trail basketball, and considered the possibility of using them as percussive instruments.
We played a card game my aunt sent me called "Man Eats Dog," and laughed late into the night with the hilarious headlines we created.
Zero miles, SO many smiles.
