I got an early start to my day and immediately started a 2,000+ foot climb.
It was warm where I camped but bitterly cold at the higher elevation and clouds were hanging in the sky.
I saw a couple of deer leap along the ridge line and a jack rabbit having breakfast.
The terrain was forgiving and the coolness of the air was conducive to swift hiking. I appreciated this because snow showers were rumored to be looming.
By early afternoon, I had completed 14 miles and came across this thought provoking sign:
This was also the first place in several days where I had a data signal on my phone and was able to confirm that weather was soon on the way.
King Toot called the number on the sign and Papa Smurf was soon on his way to pick us up.
Here is a video of what I found at his house.
Everyone got a luxuriously warm shower and their laundry washed, and a delightful dinner was shared.
To top things off, we were treated to ice cream for dessert as we watched Back to the Future and snuggled in for the night.
You never know what the day will bring.
